Posing with the sign
May 1st. Today, Wednesday, will be our first day on the road. We, Joyce and Jon along with Joe and Cindy Gerdes constitute a caravan of 2 rigs with plans to meet-up with Ron and Carolyn Ancell in Seattle in time to cross into Canada on June 1st. As you can see, we are ultimately heading for Alaska and probably not return to San Antonio until September. Just west of Uvalde, TX while Joyce was driving our rig and Cindy was driving theirs, we experienced a blowout on the left front tire of our Montana. This was our first blowout ever. Fortunately, Joyce heard the blowout and was pulling over to stop before we got the radio message from Joe and Cindy who were following us, that it had occurred. The blowout caused some damage to the trailer including severing some electrical lines. After Joe and Jon changed the tire we proceeded to our first campground at Laughlin AFB in Del Rio. We purchased a new tire to replace the one that had been destroyed. We travelled about 156 miles.
