Down a block and across the street from the Sixth Floor Museum is the Red Old Museum. Now that I am an adult, I love seeing history. The Red Old Museum holds a lot of the history of Dallas. The museum takes you thru four sections:

• the Early Years (prehistory-1873)-see items from slavery and Civil War. As well as personal items from John Neely Bryan and Quanah Parker
• Trading Center Gallery (1874-1917)-displays items about relations. Relations with others across America (via the Railroad), segregation, as well as police and fire organizations.
• Big "D" Gallery (1918-1945)-the 1920s, the Depression era, and Religion.
• World Crossroads Gallery (1946-2007)-Civil War, JFK Assassination, "Dallas".

If you do not know much about Dallas history and enjoy viewing it. I recommend The Red Old Museum.
Quick, enjoyable, interactive. There is a short movie clip in all four sections reviewing the eras. Well rounded and informed.
