Geo: 36.0599, -86.6717The hotel is about 11 miles from downtown Nashville so we waited until 9 AM before getting on the freeway system. Glad GPS units were invented. Makes navigating much easier. Did a walking tour of the various areas of downtown Nashville including the Printers District which is actually the entertainment area. A newer much larger Music Center is under construction and due to open in 2013. We then headed out to The Hermitage which is the home of the late President Andrew Jackson. It dates back to slavery days. Did a wagon tour of the property as well as the home tour and walking tour. Unfortunately interior photos are not permitted. Geo: 36.0599, -86.6717The weather today was cooler in the morning but warmed up by mid-day. We traveled into North Carolina and then Tennessee entering into the Blue Ridge Mountain Area. At one point we were at about 2400 feet above sea level and crossed the continental divide. Just before Knoxville we headed north to visit the Museum of Appalachia. This detour was well worth it. There were both indoor and outdoor displays which gave one a great appreciation for the ingenuity of these people and their music.
