Cindy: Christmas Eve Greetings from Chamberlain, South Dakota!

It's Monday night. We made great time today! We drove about 600 miles. We have now driven just over 1,000 miles so far. The weather was good, for the most part, except when Heidi was driving. It was really foggy, we could hardly see in front of us. But...whenever I was driving, it was sunny skies!!! Who has the black cloud over them now???? We drove in three states today: Wisconsin, Minnesota, and South Dakota. We took a lot of pictures. My glove box is stuck, so we can't get to our eating utensils, or my cell phone car charger. Oh well, maybe it will open tomorrow... We had to buy a knife, so we could cut our lunch meat and eat sandwiches.

We wanted to have a nice dinner tonight. I was craving salad...but alas, everything is closed since it is Christmas Eve...even the gas stations!!! We finally found a Pizza Hut that was open. It said "dining room closed, carry out only" on the door. So, I went in and asked if we could order something. The lady gave me this look like I was evil, and mumbled something about "if you order it right now" in a very put-out kind of way. Then I had to ask Heidi what she wanted, and the lady huffed and puffed some more. Whatever!!! Then we finally found a corkscrew in a gas station that happened to still be open. That guy was very nice, and even offered us some rabbit he was cooking out back😊 I think he was joking...but who knows????

So, now we have had some pizza, some wine from Germany, and went for a swim. Nice relaxing evening. We plan to leave early tomorrow, so we can get as far as we can, before the next storm hits.

My favorite Heidi quote from today: "If we would have kept going to the next town, we would have been without gas, without food, and without a room...just like Mary and Joseph...no room at the inn"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAWWWW...
