April 18-25th: Leaving Iowa City our destination for the night is in South Dakota. while traveling across Iowa we were surprised to find the birthplace of Presidents Ronald Reagan and Herbert Hoover, also actor John Wayne. Most of the scenery along I-80 is rolling hills and farm land. Des Moines seemed like a nice city, the area we saw had new buildings, there must be a historical section. At Council Bluffs we turned North on I-29 to I-90. There are several camping areas along I-80, it all depends on how far you want to travel daily.
Spent the night in Breseford, SD, the campground was small and we were the only campers there.
Left Breseford, SD to Rapid City. We plan on spending several days here while touring at Mt. Rushmore NM and Badlands NP. At Mt Rushmore we walked the Presidential trail and got some great pictures. Traveled to Badlands NP and spent most of the day driving through the park. After driving through Badlands we ended the day in Wall, SD at the Wall Drug Store. You will see ads for Wall Drugs all along I-90, they also claim to have ads all around the world. Wall

Judy shot this over my shoulder. Very pretty drive to the Monument from Rapid City. Drug was bought by a husband and wife sometime during the 1920s. During the summer they would see the cars go by and no one would stop. The wife had the idea to offer ice water, so they put up signs directing the public to come into Wall Drugs for ice water. Well as the story goes many people stopped and some stayed to make Wall the town it is today.
Our next destination is Great Falls, MT, but on the way we stopped at Devil's Tower NM in Wyoming and Little Bighorn Battlefield in Crow Agency, MT. After spending a night in Billings, MT arrived at Great Falls where we plan to stay two days so we will have time to stock up on food before going onto St. Mary, MT. While in Great Falls went to the Lewis and Clark Museum which was very informative and worth the visit. The Missouri River runs through Great Falls, which derived its name from 5 falls found in the area.
