Inside Badlands National Park Day 12 - Wednesday, August 29th, 2012
After checking out of the motel, we left Keystone and headed to the Badlands. We spent about 2 hours in the Badlands just stopping, looking and taking pictures. It was so hot we didn't venture to far from the car. The temperature was 113. Before we left the Badlands, we stopped at the visitor center and watched a film.
Once we left the Badlands we headed on down the road toward Mitchell. We stopped for lunch in Murdo at a local cafe. When we were walking in the door, I saw a quarter lying on the floor. I bent over and tried to pick it up and it was stuck. Mama kicked it and it would not move. We walked in and 2 older men and a young boy were sitting at a table grinning real big. The quarter was glued to the floor. 😊 One of the men told me to not feel bad I wasn't the first one to try and pick it up. I told him I didn't figure I was by the way they were grinning. He asked if I had a putty knife to pick it up.

Inside Badlands National Park While we were eating I saw another lady try to pick it up. I heard the young boy say that was the 4th person who had tried to pick it up while they had been sitting there. I thought it was funny I fell for it 😊.
When we arrived in Mitchell, we checked into the Super 8 motel, then went to find the Corn Palace. Mama remembered driving by it several years ago and wanted to see the inside of it. When we found it, they were still open so we went in. It wasn't anything like we were expecting. We were expecting the inside to be a museum but it was more of a convention center where they had sport events and concerts. They did have a small section as a museum. However, the pictures made out of corn were outstanding.
We will head home tomorrow. We are 798 miles from home.
