In May of 2018, I decided to try a 3-day hike on the Palmetto Trail here in South Carolina. If you haven't read that account, here is a brief synopsis. On May 24th, I started what was intended to be a 3-day, 2-night, hike along the Palmetto Trail, starting in the small town of Walhalla. All went well the 1st day, walking from Walhalla to Oconee State Park, where I spent the night in a tent. The next day, I started the 2nd segment, from Oconeee State Park to Keowee-Toxaway State Park. Although I got up and going at a reasonable hour, feeling pretty good, the directions provided by the Park Rangers left something to be desired. Devils Fork State Park, SC. We are taking our time through the Carolinas, waiting for a serive appointment at Freightliner on the Winnebago. The mountain laurel at Devils Fork were in bloom. A sight to behold.... read more

We went white water rafting for a family vacation. We stayed in the Oconee state park. I had a great time. I love white water rafting. The water was really low so we spent more time pulling people off rocks then falling over rapids but the ones we did go over were amazing. We did other great things like swim through under water tunnels and jump off cliffs. It was a beautiful river. I spent a lot of time thinking about what early americans must have felt when they travled through the area. How amazing it must have been for Lewis and Clark. I was not going risk my camera to the fate of the cameras from the movie Deliverance ,which was filmed on these rapids, which now sit on the bottom. The pictures are from ... read more
