Day 3 When I checked the weather I was pleasantly surprised to find the weather report said no rain and temp = 70 – perfect riding weather. It was cloudy, but not raining so I I loaded the bike, and put my airwing on the seat and went in to eat breakfast. I heard someone say – its raining and I turned around and sure enough it was raining. My seat was soaked. I dried it off as best I could, but my butt still got wet. The rain blew past and it looked like it wasn’t going to rain again so I started to ride. Had a lovely Sunday with the girls and friends--grocery shopping in the morning, lunch in Savannah on the river front, then took in a Sand Gnats baseball game. Moved a couple more boxes from Hill's to Al's. Al's apartment looks west and it's very hot and bright in the evening on her porch. learned that the hard way last evening! Monday morning, Hillary gave her two-week notice at work--had a couple great interviews on Friday in Orlando and will probably have to decide between offers. Had lunch with the girls and went to Hill's to vaccuum the steps up to Al's room--covered in Leo hair!... read more

Wednesday, 10/6, Susan took the train from Staunton to DC. Allison (and Hill's roommate Sara) met her. Proceeded to Hill's apartment, had fresh shrimp scampi (thanks, Hill) and finished packing Hill's belongings. Thursday morning, Hill headed off to work. Allison and Susan went and picked up the 16 foot truck, brought it back to the apartment building. At 10:30, the Simple Moving Labor guys arrived and transported Hill's belongings. They were scheduled for 3 hours and that was just about perfect. Poor guys had to go down the elevator, across the courtyard, up about 8 steps, then out to the truck. Kept at it and packed the truck in very well. Susan driving the truck and Allison in her car headed out for Harrisonburg. Beltway was packed, construction, lanes shifting, etc., but they got through it. ... read more
