Went to Hershey Factory Tour today. Learned some very interesting things about the Hershey Company, to much to list here, but I will hit the highlights-- Milton Hershey had like six business failures before he hit the right combination, Just a couple of days before another business failure he got an order from England for some of his caramel...his bank president had to co-sign personally in order for him to fill the order....this put him on his way. Later he discovered that the English were coating his caramel in chocolate...this started him on his chocolate path.
Now about the school - - Milton and his wife Kitty could not have children so they started a school for orphan boys. This school owns 53 percent of Hershey Chocolate Company and has 1800 boys and girls. They all receive a laptop, new wardrobe, new luggage, and $100.00 at graduation. If they want to go to college they have a $88,000 scholarship. The school WILL NOT accept any donations.
