Happy New Year - 2014

A very Happy New Year to each of you. Our exciting New Year's Eve ritual of watching the ball drop on TV didn't pan out....fell asleep before the big moment. In our early years, we really made the most of the moment. I can remember Cory and I going to the Blue Angel Restaurant & Bar in Hornell, NY. When midnight struck, we kissed for 14 minutes straight. Oooooooooo. "14" was his lucky number. Thank God, it wasn't 60! Talk about being lip-locked! This New Year's Day began with trepidation. We had wanted to start for Florida yesterday but our Doppler map showed a big snow mass in the part of Pennsylvania we had to travel through. A similar picture presented itself today. What to do....the weather wasn't going to get better...only worse. We called Cory's sister Gwen (& Bob) who live in Clearfield, PA. for their weather report. It sounded okay in their region so we decided to chance it. Grabbing our last minute stuff and hooking up the car.....we were off and running. The roads were clear until we got about 20 miles from home and then some snow flurries began.....rats! Had we made the right decision?? We plowed on....nervously, though. We passed an Amish buggy.....they had to be a lot colder than us. We had both furnaces running plus the front heat - it was toasty. When we turned off the heat, we bundled up and used our electric plug-in throws on our laps. We don't like running the furnaces continuous. We were relieved when the weather improved above Williamsport.....then it was smooth sailing. Cory's shoulder is holding up well.....whew! No way could I have driven through the snowy part. I'm too nervous even in sunshine. We have landed in Chambersburg, PA. for the night....at a Country Inn & Suites. Had to unhook the car because of their parking lot but that allowed us to drive to a TGIF for supper. Tried to find a car wash because our car looks just like a mud hut on wheels. Temperature is too cold so car wash was closed. Rats! But considering what went on with us one year ago...remember the bad rock and our damaged RV....a little mud is fine! So, the adventure begins. We are so happy you are coming along with us. Lulu is ecstatic. What a great way to spend this New Year....sharing it with you!
