Last weekend, the colors of the trees in Portland, especially those in the Japanese gardens, were, I must admit, just as lovely as those "back east." And, once, from atop the City Grill Restaurant, we were able to catch a glimpse of Mt. Hood through the clouds. I didn't travel to Portland for the scenery, however, but for the wedding of my eldest son Eric and his fiancee, Patti.
The ceremony, which took place on Saturday, November 3rd at Portland's quaint Oaks Pioneer Chapel, was officiated by an older American friend of Eric's who did a marvelous job and even uttered a few words of French at the end. The groomsmen were either French or Quebecois and included my two younger sons, Sebastien and Marc, who'd flown over from Paris; Patti's sister was among the bridesmaids.
The ceremony was followed by a wonderfully fun reception at a French-owned venue, La Vie de Bohème, where we wined and dined and danced to live music by two bands. At one point during the evening, Eric and Patti sang songs from their new CD, 1+1=Freedom. A lively time was had by all-- family and friends from France, Colorado, California, Canada, and Boston,

Frank (officiator) and sons Sebastien and Marc as well as local friends of Eric's and Patti's.
Vive les mariés! I wish you much happiness, and thank you for such a great event.
