Trees, trees and more trees. It's the greenest city I've ever seen after Singapore. (Ok, the city is not exactly green... The trees are turning yellow and red. Hehe.)

This MAX light rail station is the deepest underground station in North America, with the platforms 450 feet below the station entrance. (In Singapore's terms, it's something like digging a MRT tunnel under Bukit Timah Hill and building a MRT station at the summit of the hill.)

Portland is fondly known as the "City of Roses", and the rose is the symbol of the city. It's no wonder that the city has an entire garden dedicated to the growth of the city's flower.

Details of the tile patterns on the grand staircase. Imagine an entire staircase covered with this kind of tiles! (You can actually trace the outline of the patterns by placing a paper on the floor and rubbing a crayon on the paper. I saw kids doing that when I visited the library.)

nice job
Well done on your Portland blog. I'm thinking about moving there with my girlfriend and our son (we are in Los Angeles now), and it's difficult to find good "man on the street", i.e. not commercial, info on a city. Thanks.
