Mt Hood Railroad in Parkdale
The Mt Hood Railroad is getting ready to pull out... Parkdale, Oregon
Parkdale is a small and very beautiful town at the northern side of Mt Hood in the Hood River Valley. It has more fruit trees than its 260 people!
It is here that you begin to see the magnificent fruit orchards of the Hood River Valley and start on the southern most part of the Fruit Loop.
It is the end of the Mt Hood Railway.
It is the location of historical buildings, an eclectic museum and a BBQ restaurant!
It even has a beautiful and charming B&B called the Old Parkdale Inn.
Some of the old boardwalk remains.
Sculptures are done in barbed wire.
AND, historic information about turkeys!!!
When we arrived in Parkdale, the Mt Hood Railroad train was loading and getting ready to pull out. Rides are round trip from Hood River through the fruit orchards with the magnificent Mt Hood towering above.
Our first stop in Parkdale was for lunch at the Apple Valley BBQ Restaurant. We had the pulled pork sandwiches - YUM!!! The restaurant is complete with a train that goes around the top of the restaurant!
After lunch, we wandered to
the Hutson Museum and through the park at the Clear Creek Station.
Parkdale is one of those beautiful towns that seems to exist without a time reference.
