Finally Corvallis!! We arrived at 6pm and after a quick tour of Jane annd Billy's house, very cute as expected, we were off the a free concert in the next town of Albany. Herman's Hermits was the group. Actually as Jane said it was more like Peter Noone and a band but he was actually very entertaining. Turns out he has a sister that lives in the area which is how the town booked him for the final free concert of the summer. The concerts are held at a vary pretty park located on a river. It's a very popular event for the area, all kinds of food vendors set up tents and this concert drew the largest crowd of the summer. It was a long haul down to Oregon, but we made it, plants and all! It took us about 5 days to make the entire trip, with one day spent in Vancouver, Canada. We saw a menagerie of ungulates on our drive down, such as deer, caribou, buffalo, and some sort of sheep or goat that did not look like the Alaskan doll sheep or the mountain goat. We also spotted next to the Alaskan Highway a brown bear with a small cub. Maciek and I have been living in Corvallis for about two and a half months now. Corvallis is a lot different than Anchorage. For one thing, Corvallis is pretty flat, yes there are some hills and occasionally we have seen mountains with snow cap peaks in the distance, but nothing is the same ... read more
