We headed off to Dallas in the morning and hit quite the rainstorm in the Cascades, but it gave us some beauty we didn't expect.

Winter doesn't seem to want to go away this year... the only way the snow is melting right now is with the constant rain!

As always, it was a dramatic view of the intense and tragic burn along the highway from the 2003 B&B Complex fire. Map to Complex Fire This was a huge and hot fire and the land is still struggling to heal itself. That fire was a horrible and long event. One we won't quickly forget.

We were astonished to see the large waterfall down the side of the mountain --- not that it was there, but that we got to see it. It is a treasure we wouldn't see from the highway if the trees had not been burned. Blue Lake is also visible now - also due to the burn of the trees.
