Dad and Karen in fron of Pops Got up early on Thursday and were greeted to a windy and sunny day, at least it was sunny until we hooked up the car to the Camp Boss, of course it rained hard for the two minutes it took to hook up the tow bar and cables. Then it stopped. For the first time since we left Virginia we had a tail wind, and it stayed w/ us all the way to OKC ;-) The road was good for the most part, but the short exceptions were rough!!! Gave the old Camp Boss a thorough rattle test and it passed. It's been many years since our last trip up I-35, we used to make the trip often when we were stationed at Bergstrom AFB from 1987-1990 (Austin Tx). The first big change we noticed was how great the roads are in Dallas, then it was the huge Casino at the TX/Ok border. It looked like a slice of Las Vegas on the plains. The Indians have put up casinos all over Oklahoma. The next shock was the destruction going through Moore, we watched the clips on TV but seeing the storm's destruction first hand was shocking. The trip only took

Rt 66 famous Red Barn about 4 hours and we were set up at the Pioneer RV Park in Seward Ok. It was a nice enough overnight park and we were lucky to get a slot without a reservation! By the time we were finished setting up, Dad showed up in his beautiful F350 dually; what a great looking rig! We followed him back to his home and put the cars undercover in his garage. They were forcasting really bad storms w/ hail and possible tornados! He gave us a quick tour of his lovely house and great workshop. He's building a 1960's Ford Cobra in his shop and it's going to be an amazing car! After the tour and a quick weather update on TV, Karen arrived home early from work. It was great to see her again! Suddenly, the storm warning sirens went off and Dad opened up the storm shelter...however just a few short minutes later the alarms stopped and we moved outside to watch the storms just to our North. Maggie loved their back yard and for the first time since we left home she got to stretch her legs and run around on GRASS! Karen pretended to chase her and

Casino at border she had a great time running the yard. I could tell she felt at home in the big yard!
The storm cells that passed caused a lot of damage northwest of us; it was a near miss again. Those prayers are sure helping out. Later Karen prepared a dinner worthy of Thanksgiving that we all enjoyed it. After dinner we drove out to a local lake and campground and some of the sights along Rt 66; to include ice cream at the world famous Pops. It's been several years since we've seen Dad and Karen and was great to get caught up on the news. We wish we could see them more often! It was an all around great day, but time to head back the the rig to get ready for our 487 mile journey to the Mississippi River @ West Memphis Ak.
