Got your slickers and galoshes on? It's raining today. Neither rain nor sleet nor snow will stop us where we want to go. We are headed to Berlin, Ohio today. So buckle up in your arm chair as we travel along on those crazy hilly paths again. There's a big celebration going on in Berlin today: their Fall Festival and huge Ribfest. Too bad....the rain tends to dampen the spirit but yet there are many folks strolling around this quaint and touristy town. Our destination was undercover: a mega Antique Mall. Sam seems to know the location of every antique shop and mall in every state. He's like a GPS set on "antiques." We wandered in and out of the many booths, drooling all the time. We did purchase a couple small trinkets. Lulu thought she ... read more

Tuesday, which was our last day in the area, began at Heini's, which is a huge cheese factory. This is a place the buses go. It can get very crowded but we were lucky and it was not busy when we were there. They have free samples of all of their cheeses, including cream cheese fudge! We took the things we bought back to the motorhome before going out for another ride. I wanted to go to another campground in the area, Evergreen Park RV Resort to make reservations for us to come back with one of the local chapters of our Bounder club in July. We did that and then tried to go to ‘Simply Smuckers’, which is a beautiful outlet in the country. We went and got quite a surprise. It was closed ... read more

Monday morning, we had planned to go to Coshocton, OH, so that I could exercise at a Silver Sneakers location, Colonial Sports’n Courts. I’d recommend that location highly as the personnel were very helpful. They also had quite a large variety of equipment. I was able to do most of my routine and quit only because I was really tired and hot. There was no moving air in there. The drive was a bit farther than I thought to get there but we enjoyed the scenery on the way. Coming back, we stopped in the town of Pearl at Pearl Valley Cheese Factory and just had to get some to take with us. Then in the next town we came to, which was Baltic, there was an old mill that was converted to a bulk ... read more

The weekend had just flown by. All of a sudden, it was Sunday morning and again our hosts provided breakfast at the campground. Soon the motor homes were packed up and on the road heading home or wherever they were going. This time, Jeff and I did not have to leave. We had made plans to stay for a few more days. Being Sunday in Amish country, the sidewalks are pretty much rolled up. We went to the nearby town of Millersburg, to a Wal-Mart, and then returned to the campground to rest and watch a NASCAR race. We just relaxed and had a quiet dinner in the motor home. There were a few horses in a field right behind our motorhome who were curious when a visitor stopped by their fence. ... read more

Saturday morning, our hosts provided breakfast at the campground. There was fresh fruit, muffins, juice and coffee. There were four local chapters present so time had been set aside for chapters who wanted to hold meetings to do so. Then it was off to check out more of the area again before we gathered at The Farmstead Restaurant in Berlin again for a buffet Amish dinner. I guess I was more tired than I thought. It takes a lot of energy to have all this fun! At dinner I felt myself start to fade and did lose most of my energy. We came back to the motorhome and sadly, I was in for the evening. I also developed my MS earache which I get from time to time. I’m just so happy there is medicine that ... read more

The next morning was the first ‘official’ event of the weekend. The hosts had arranged for us to have breakfast at The Farmstead Restaurant in Berlin. It was a fantastic buffet spread and was another opportunity to visit with the gang. After eating, everyone went their different directions. We went to the little town of Charm so that I could check out Millers Dry Goods, a wonderful quilt/fabric shop. As usual, their selection was outstanding. Then we had heard that there was a new ‘lumber’ store in town. We drove up the driveway where we saw the sign for Keim Lumber and were totally amazed when we saw what was there. The building has got to be the largest in Charm, is new, and has an amazing selection of high end har... read more

Thursday morning, we headed out of the campground rather early for a nearby, large, indoor Amish Flea Market. It’s quite a place. We’ve been going to it for years and have always found something we just couldn’t live without. This is a ‘new’ merchandise type of flea market and not the type that sells garage sale items. After walking all thru the flea market, I wanted to go nowhere but back to our rig to rest. When we got back, we saw that a lot of others had arrived, so instead of just sitting around and resting, the day was spent visiting and catching up with friends who we hadn’t seen for a while. ... read more

We arrived in the beautiful Amish area of Berlin, OH and got the motor home all set up at Scenic Hills RV Park. It was time to eat by the time we were finished, so we drove to the nearby Swiss town of Sugarcreek, OH for a fantastic chicken dinner at Beachy's. The reason we came to Berlin was for a rather large local Bounder (our brand of motorhome) rally. There were also a few other members who arrived on Wednesday so we visited with a few of the people there and then turned in for the evening. ... read more
