Edit Blog Post

So the countdown continues. In 48 hours I will be somewhere over the Atlantic. I was going to just send emails to my friends but I figured more people would be able to follow my trip with a blog and posting pictures will be easier.

Background on the trip + our itinerary I am traveling with a friend I met while at East Carolina named Veronika. She was on exchange at ECU for a year from her university in Germany, close to Stuttgart. After graduating in May and moving back home for the time being, I jokingly Facebook messaged her one day about coming to visit her. From there it quickly turned into a serious conversation and the Eurotrip was born! Luckily she is just as excited as me and I couldn't ask for a better travel partner. We have a pretty flexible itinerary that has changed a little since the start of planning but the general idea is the same. I am flying into Stuttgart, Germany and we will be working our way south to Rome, where we will both fly home from on October 5th. The itinerary is flexible, we only have reservations and hotels booked at places and things that require it, other than that we have left it pretty open. We have a list of hotels in every city that we may be staying in so that we can call ahead as soon as we know for sure what we are doing and book a room. I am bringing a little mini laptop with me for reservations and...of course...to keep all of you informed. Here is our itinerary for now:

Sept 18: Leave NC at 3 PM
Sept 19: Arrive Stuttgart at 9AM local time-Explore a town near Veronika's home
Sept 20: Day trip to Rothenburg
Sept 21: Leave early for Munich--OKTOBERFEST!!
Sept 22: Explore Munich
Sept 23: Leave Munich early for Neuchwanstein Castle Take evening train to Luzern, Switzerland
Sept 24: Luzern--Cable car to Mount Pilatus
Sept 25: Explore Luzern, Leave for Milan, Italy in the afternoon/evening
Sept 26: Milan
Sept 27: Milan
Sept 28: Morning train from Milan to Venice
Sept 29: Morning train from Venice to Rome
Sept 30: Rome--Vatican
Oct 1: Explore Rome
Oct 2: Morning train from Rome to Salerno, take bus ride along Amalfi coast, stay in Sorrento for the night
Oct 3: Train from Sorrento to Pompeii in morning, train to Naples in afternoon
Oct 4: Naples, train to Rome in evening
Oct 5: Fly out of Rome in morning

So that is our pedal to the metal Eurotrip. Lots of stories and pictures to come
