It was a good plan - leave the house at noon, make the 5 1/2 hour drive to Raleigh, check in to the hotel, find someplace nice for dinner ...
Well, we left home at 2:30pm (we got carried away doing 'last minute' yard chores we should have done a few days ago!). Immediately the GPS warned us of a 2-hour delay on I-95 south of DC. So, we took the non-highway route for the first 2 hours of the trip. Once we got back on the interstates we made pretty good time, rolled into Raleigh at about 8:30pm.
Found the first suitable-looking restaurant (since we were not very suitable for any place 'nice').
Now it is 10pm, we are checked into our room, and we'll have no trouble sleeping tonight.
There's a restaurant across the street named 'Biscuitville' - we might be visiting there tomorrow morning...
