During the American monsoon my speedo gave up it's last breath, the bike as well as it's owner is getting a bit long in the teeth. I can use the sat nav but having no odo and no fuel gauge I have to think and who can be arsed to do that, after having been to lazy to don my heated gear I finally succumbed to mother nature's wrath and put on my heated jacket, I should have put it on when I started but as always the laziness gets you in the end, the sat nav took me to a couple hotels that did not exist, or maybe they went broke , so I ended up at a Holiday inn, I put up a question for some ideas about my dead speedo on the adventure ... read more

Welcome to the very first post of Kay and Don's travel blog. We are so excited that we finally were able to see snow falling and snow on the ground! This is a first for both of us!! 50plus years and this is our first snow sighting...sad, but true! We've been on the road for well over a week, making stops at Lake Waldena and Pensacola Beach, Florida, then moving on to Forsyth, Ga, and on to Franklin, NC. Everyone we meet thinks its hilarious that we are chasing snow. Most of the campgrounds are empty. Apparently, we are the only nuts going NORTH!! So anyway, today, we rented a beautiful black Ford Explorer, because you need 4 wheel drive to get through 2 inches of snow. Then we found out from a few people that ... read more

On the last leg of our journey now…Missouri was miserable…Kansas just a tidge above miserable. As we made our way into Nashville, Tennessee, our stop for the night, we kept hearing of tornadoes and flooding. So I called the hotel, they said they are on a little knoll. When we got there, I asked for the 2nd floor. Then we slept like babies, not realizing that just north of us, just south of us, and 10 miles from home tornadoes were taking up towns. We drove home seeing the destruction. At 8pm, we drove up our drive. We’ll be ever thankful for all the wonderful friends who shared themselves and their homes, in addition to all the wonderful new friends! This is one of our most-excellent adventures! ... read more
