AMAZING.
Time Square in the rain, bus and ferry rides. It was raining when we arrived but that didn't stop us from getting out and about in Time Square. There where lights everywhere and still loads of people getting wet.
The next morning it was still a little wet with low clouds.
The boys went and saw a soccer match while we girls walked Central Park. There was also outdoor book stores selling books. Without the boys that night we went and saw Wicked on Broadway.
Yes.... It was WICKED. And yes it was expensive.
Next day.... Finally blue sky. We took one of those hop on hop off tour buses and it worked well.We jumped on the ferry across to Brooklyn. That really is pretty. I really wouldn't mind doing that every morning.
Wall Street is pretty uptight with lots of blocked streets, barricades and police.
Brooklyn bridge is brilliant. Both the bridge and the view is amazing looking back at New York. This tiny island with all of these tall buildings on it. It looks like it would or should sink with all of that weight on it.
We where on the side of the road trying
to figure out where we were and these 4 older ladies that just happened to be a mother with her 3 daughters, asked us if we needed help. Well when they heard my Australian accent they stared saying, " Aw. We love you Aussies. You are all so wonderful. We love you Aussies."
But the funny thing was that they all kept saying the same thing.
Over and over again. They where really sweet and they where very happy that they helped us Aussies.
Of corse we had to visit Chinatown. We needed our Chinese fix. The kids ordered in Chinese which was funny because most of the staff could not speak Chinese. The food was good.
Little Italy was another area that we just had to stop at. We ate a good pizza. The area is full of huge graffiti-murals on the buildings. Very cool.
The city at night is magical.
So many lights.
The September 11 memorial is such a sad place. The whole area is silent even though there are so many people that visit this area. You can really feel a deep sadness.
We went to a dinner where the waiters sang the whole
time we where there. The food was basic hotdogs, hamburgers and fries but the entertainment was brilliant. There was a line up outside but it was worth the wait.
Stardust Dinner. Brilliant.... But the boys weren't too happy but us girls had a blast.
The wax museum was fun. So many celebrities and lots of opportunities to take silly photos.
This city is amazing.
I felt at home here. All of the New Yorkers that we met where really friendly and helpful and they all had this passion for their home town.
I think if I was younger I would love to live in New York.
Live wouldn't be easy but it would be a blast.
