We decided that we would sleep in today and start our touring around 9:30. Once we were all dressed and fed, we walked down the street to the Gray Line Bus Station, to pick up our tickets for the double decker bus tours.
Our first bus tour (and only one today) took us uptown. We saw Central Park, Harlem and many sites in between. The highlight, was that we got to see the LDS Temple. Regan was really excited!
We got off the bus right in front of the Carnegie Deli so we decided to eat there. $22.95 for a sandwich! We decided to share $3.00 for that! Anyway, the sandwiches were HUGE and were good and, we are on vacation.
We then jumped back on a bus to go to Macy's so we could do a little shopping. After riding two blocks we were told we would have to transfer to a different bus...wait, no, get back on the original bus..wait, get off here and wait for the new tour guide...no, all of you stay on but her, she needs to get off while we move the bus forward. OK, now you can all get on and wait until we
are ready to start.
Once we got to Macy's we went in and began to look for the Visitors Center because all visitors who have an out of state ID get 11% off their purchases. That was a little crazy so we eventually left the girls in the Jr.s Department and Nikki went looking. Once we found the Visitors Center, Kelsie called us to tell us that Regan wasn't feeling well and they were headed to the restroom. We found them and decided to sit in the McDonald's for a few minutes and give her a minute to rest. She wasn't feeling much better but she decided that she would rather go shop at H&M across the street.
Both girls found clothes to buy there. Then we walked down the street to Kelsie's favorite store....PAYLESS! Where they spent just as much time looking at shoes as they had looking at clothes at H&M. Just around the corner was Lush so we went and bought some great soap. We then began our long trek from 34th and Broadway back to 8th and 51st so we could get ready to go see the play.
Because lunch was so heavy, we decided this would be our
time to grab food from a street vendor so some of us had hot dogs and some of us had pretzels which we ate in the room.
We then went to the Gershwin Theater to see The Lion King. It was a good play and we all really enjoyed it. The puppets were truly amazing and you really do forget that there are people in them.
By then we had two really tired girls so we came back to the hotel to sleep....tomorrow is another early day.
