We're on our last leg of our vacation. Although we enjoyed Montreal… I think we did everything (and more importantly ate) everything we set out to do while we were here this time. Summer gave us a whole different perspective on Montreal and we were able to walk and see many more things than when we were there 5 years ago in November. Driving back into the U.S. was easy and quite uneventful. For some reason, there isn't a big sign welcoming us to the U.S. ...only a sign welcoming us to New York. I say this because on our way into Canada one week ago, there was a huge sign saying United States of America on the opposite side.. welcoming Canadians into the U.S. We entered the U.S. from a different entryway this time. I had my camera ready just in case.. but oh well! 😞

Driving through New York and making our way into Watertown was so familiar… as if it were our home, which of course it was 5-6 years ago. We enjoyed the beautiful greenery on the way in and got excited to see some small changes but also familiar sites. The boys couldn't wait to drive through our old neighborhood and see our old house. We stopped in to say hello to our dear friends from across the street. We are getting together with them soon! We drove to one of our favorite places.. Sackets Harbor to eat at one of our favorite restaurants Tin Pan Galley. They had all outdoor seating and it was busy. Sackets is just as beautiful as it always has been. The views of Lake Ontario are amazing and the weather was a perfect low 80's, the warmest we have felt since before leaving for Canada. The biggest change is not seeing Matthew's favorite tree. This is a tree that he loved climbing when he was little. To our shock it was gone. I found out from a local shop owner that a nasty ice storm 2 years ago wiped it out as well as some other trees nearby. Apparently the past 2 winters here have been pretty bad, even for Watertown standards.
