Life sized checker board
Checkers anyone? Matthew and I played when Alex was getting his massage. So our last day in Lake Placid started out with the boys waking up early to look for otters. Matthew woke Alex up and made sure he was out the door by 6:15. We were told by a local shop owner that there are otters everywhere but you have to get up early! The boys were gone for one hour but came back without having spotted an otter. They did manage to spot a heron and some ducks.
After breakfast, Alex got a massage for his 50th and I got a manicure. We all paddle boarded together (before my mani of course). It was my first time and it was fun. I didn't fall into the lake (my idea of success) and I was able to stand up on the paddle without a problem. It helps that the paddle board is sturdy and that yoga helps with balance. When you first get on the board, you have to stay on your knees and paddle out a little before you can stand up. The wind direction makes it easy to figure out which direction to paddle.
