9/11 Memorial

Fran After the Staten Island ferry we walked up through the financial centre until we came to the 9/11 memorial. This is right beside the new World Trade Centre or Freedom Tower. The place was calm quiet and dignified. A place for contemplation. The memorial is massive, all made of black marble and has water cascading in a steady even flow down from the sides into a black hole in the centre. It is surrounded by trees and benches.
