Well it was a long weekend for the president's day public holiday, and with us having fridays off anyway we decided that it would be a good chance to do some travelling. With Melissa (Holland) and Marie (Sweden) we hired a car and drove south through Vermont, Massachusetts, Conneticut, and down to New York City. It was a really nice scenic drive, although it had decided to rain that day, mixed with a bit of light snow, and some of the roads were closed due to a pretty big storm the night before, so some of our scenic routes were blocked off, and we often had to detour and backtrack. It was a really nice drive still though. I bought an iTrip the day before so we had tunes for our 11h? drive (which should really only have taken about 6!).

When we got to NYC we dropped off the car, and dropped Melissa and Marie off at their hostel, and then headed to John and Melina's for dinner. After dinner we went down to a place near Union Square called the Asian Pub, which Caitlin, one of the american girls who is from NYC had recommended. It was ok, with cheap cocktails but got a bit boring after a while, so we headed off.

On saturday i slept in till early afternoon, then had to do some study cos i had a case due the day we were going to be getting back, and an exam on the wednesday. I didn't really get much done though cos i met John's niece Ingrid who's from Sydney, and spent quite a lot of my 'study time' discussing all things Australian. Tom and the rest of the international crew had gone out sightseeing for the day, and i'll get him to write something about what they did later. Ingrid, her mate James, and I went out in the freezing cold for some dinner, and then her and I headed out downtown for a bit of partying. We somehow managed to get into a place called Bungalow 8, which is a really classy club on W27th st in Chelsea. We had a great time, the music was really cool, we met a couple of cool guys, one bloke from NYC and a guy from London, who invited us to come have a some drinks at his table there. After a

few drinks they played You Shook Me All Night Long, and true to form as the only Aussies present, we got up and had a dance and a sing, much to the amusement of pretty much everyone there. Anyway it ended up all in all a really fun night, and certainly an experience - this place is no club bay view that's for sure.

Sunday morning Tom, Melissa, Marie and I went to "Tom's Diner" on the upper westside for breakfast - it's the diner in Seinfeld. It was pretty crowded but cool to check it out anyway. That night Tom and I headed down to Brooklyn to see Wolfmother play, they were over from Australia on tour and it was a really awesome show. Headed back home to bed around 1 or 2 and got up relatively early to pick up the car and drive back to Vermont. We drove through NY state this time, (thanks Melina for the recommendations and directions) and it was a really nice drive, and another beautiful day, like all of our time in NY. Drove up around Lake George and got back to Burlington just in time for dinner.
