Happy July 4th
From our house to yours Hope you all had a Happy 4th of July. We were thinking of each of you and hoped the day went off with a bang!
Our day was quite laid back. First off, we looked for Fourth of July festivities on the wrong day. I was positive that the nearby town, Andover, was having big celebrations on both the 3rd & 4th. Wrong! We drove over to this celebration Mecca with excitement swirling around us on Sunday. This town probably has the biggest and the best of all July 4th festivities and fireworks. We drove around town (small) and saw only a couple food trailers set up in the school yard. Chicken barbecue was on the 4th....rats!
Cory thought Hornell, NY might have something going on so our journey continued. Wrong, again. Nothing. Why don't they have "pre" celebration activities for those of us who get our days mixed up? Why?? Anyway, we went to Walmart and ate at Club 57 while in Hornell. Both wonderful. We licked our wounds and headed home. Took some of the back roads (there are many) and enjoyed the beautiful scenery and wildlife that stopped to give us "the eye".
When July
4th actually arrived, we decided just to stay home and relax. Our weather has been hot and beautiful. We feel like we are in Florida. Lulu joined us, taking up one (mine) of the chaise lounge chairs. That's okay.....she deserves a rest now and then. Her days consist of guard duty of our house. No one wants to mess with Lulu. We had some company pass by our front porch: 3 little raccoons. Fortunately, they picked up their pace before Cory could get his "Have A Heart" traps out and baited. They ended up across the street at my friend, Mary Kay's house. She tried to shoo them away and they bit her walking stick. Mean little devils. We watched Joey Chestnut eat his 70 hot dogs at Coney Island. Unbelievable. Our friend, Fram, loves hot dogs but I bet he can't eat that many.....who could except for Joey. "Joey, Joey, Joey!" Our evening meal was going to be hot dogs. Cory had them on the grill when our daughter, Lory, called and invited us down for hamburgers. Rip the dogs off the grill, Bucky....we are going! Lulu could have the hot dogs IF only she could eat. We jumped

Our front porch...sit awhile in the car and headed to Scio, NY......other side of Wellsville. Jay had some special hamburger from a friend and was cooking them on his Green Egg grill. They were delicious. Lory had all the side dishes plus strawberry shortcake for dessert Yum! We ate on their pool deck and watched their alligator float around. It looked real.
Lory follows in our footsteps...she is a collector: big time! I took some photos of just some of her collections. She's big into cows. Their home is like a huge gift shop! It's almost too overwhelming for me....and we live in a gift shop, too. You're welcome to browse.
We had been down to Scio earlier in the week. They had their big Strawberry Festival put on by the Lion's Club. Jay is president of their club. They had a food tent, bounce house, exhibits including a wildlife one by Bwana Jim. And, of course, strawberry shortcake. We took our neighbor friend, Mary Kay, with us. She likes strawberries! It was good Lulu didn't go...the wild critters would have scared her senseless. Our granddaughter, Sara, was working in the strawberry section. Jay worked in the food tent. The shortcakes didn't
Little raccoons
The first two waited for the last one compare to Parksdale in Florida. Nothing can compare to that place. I wish you all could visit this farm market just once. You have to see it and enjoy to believe it. They make their shortcakes like you were a giant...huge! Whew.....I'm swollen just thinking about them.
I had an appointment with the eye Doctor last week. My God, it seems like all we have done since returning from Florida is to go to one medical person after another....and we aren't even sick! My eyes keep tearing and I'm already on eye drops for dry eye. All these tears makes my vision blurry. Are you there? I'm not sure if I can see you. Call me Helen! Well, he checked my eyes and said I could probably have cataract surgery now if I wanted to. I don't want to. So, he gave me another eyeglass Rx, ordered some different drops (Restasis)....and the plan to do my cataracts in the next year or two. Rats! It's hell to get old. We are 72!
We went to our neighbors house for their daughter's graduation party. It was like going to the Golden Corral. Fantastic! So much food and all delicious.
Yvonne cooked All the food except Alan did the chicken barbecue. It was a nice time for all. We only had to walk across our yard to go to their house. Handy.
More wound licking, we went to the local coffee shop "The Gathering Place". Here, you find your old friends so you can catch up on the latest gossip. We moseyed down the sidewalk to eat lunch at one of the local diners: The Modern Diner. Good food, not modern, but you get to see more friends doing the same thing we are doing.
Another epistle has come to end, folks. So glad you decided to follow along. We hope each day is one of sunshine and happiness for each one of you. See you all next time when we can get together.

Happy 4th to you....
Another great couple of days up "North", wouldn't miss them for a minute. Love seeing all the critters, Lori's house, love all her knick knacks and her gator. We'll treat you next time to the real Plant City Strawberry Shortcake, promise, know you love it. Looks like you had a great time doing everything and we enjoyed being right alongside both of you and LULU. Thanks for always including us. Mike had the cataract surgery 2 years ago, NO pain, went great, just goes back for checkups, has 20/30 vision now and after over 50 some years, since 9 th grade, doesn't need glasses anymore for up close. DON'T be afraid to do it, it's well worth it and look what you're going thru now, it's over in under 5 minutes. We're with you sweetie! Love you guys Mike and MJ
