My appointments
Glad they are done Remember I mentioned to you the next excitement on our dance card was my going to the dentist (last Friday) and getting my annual mammogram done (today). They are always okay but I am truly glad when both events are over. Remember, a paper cut just about does me in. Owww! Appointments done! I made it! I survived! Whew! Thanks for your support. It was helpful and needed.
My dentist, Dr. Simons, lives and has his office in Cuba, N.Y. That's where we go to the annual garlic festival. Good & smelly. Something yet to look forward to in the fall. Mark it on your calendar. My Wellsville dentist died years ago. He was such a good man and good dentist. It took me awhile to find another dentist who I liked and trusted. Along came Dr. Simons. He has done me well. I'm so glad I found him. We knew him already from "around town." Actually, Cory used to play sports against him in High School. He has a wonderful team who works with him. Carolyn was my hygienists at this visit. She's so sweet and thoughtful. We talk "dog" when we are together .....she talks and I garble
Dr. Simons & Carolyn
Kathy ....then the 3 of us with the cleaning instruments jammed in my mouth. Doc's receptionist is Kathy. She, too, is so sweet and gracious. It is like old home day going to this office. The work gets done and our visit together is fun, frolic and laughter. Fortunately, I passed the test today: "Look, Ma, No Cavities!" Yippee!
Once, clean and free, we headed to Salamanca where our Antique/Collectibles co- op is located. We have two booths and two cases here. We sell pretty well....enough to keep us coming back. Remember, we are trying to get out of this business. We restocked our booths and managed to find a few crevices for it all. It's becoming quite a challenge, though. You are welcome to come and buy anything out of our booths. We have 25% off the marked price (over $10.00) but for you, we can do even better. Come on down!
Taking advantage of the nice, summer day, we drove up the road to the Seneca Allegany Casino ...here in Salamanca. Salamanca is on an Indian Reservation so we always get cheap gas while we are here. We gambled a little but as usual, I ended up as Sandy Foreman always says
Our Co-Op
First booth & case to Sam & his lottery tickets: not a winner, not a winner, not a winner! Cory managed to make up the difference as always but we just didn't feel that lucky signal while there. So we went and ate at their buffet. It was excellent! Mega choices and it was their crab legs and prime rib special. We had a BOGO ticket.....thank God! One buffet alone cost $30! But we made sure we got our moneys' worth. Back 2 times for the main meal and once for dessert plus I put cookies in my gambling bag. We were so full when done we almost had to have the Indians carry us out like papooses on their backs. Ohhhh, My!
With no time to spare, Cory flew our Flex car over the highway just in time to make it to the movie theater in Olean. Guess what we saw? Yep! FINDING DORY. It was wonderful....just like I had figured it would be. I love Dory. The theater is better than the 2-small theater rooms in the Wellsville movie house. This one, though, didn't come close to those in Florida where we enjoy the huge, luxurious, rocking chairs that we got
so used to. The seat was comfy but just a normal seat. Had to move once a big head man plopped in front of me. The day was coming along just perfect.
The finality was going to Wal-Mart. No better way to end the day. I love Walmart. We so wish there was one in Wellsville but there are a few "concerned citizens" who keep fighting it. Truly, a loss for our decaying town.
Again, Lulu made the decision to stay home. I told you I would share the reason why with you. She has all her girlfriends staying with us. They have such fun together. Actually, two of them are her sisters. The one next to the dark skin gal and the one on the end with the beautiful, flowing locks. Lulu used to look just her...they are twins..until I took Lovely Lulu and cut her hair cause it was just too much to manage. I think I made a mistake. Her twin is a real looker...don't you think? The blonde came from across the tracks. She's a slutty girl.....as you can see. But Lulu likes her and her stories.
Our weekend was calm and restful.
We just puttered around the old farm and kept busy.
Today, was "squish the breast" day.....my mammogram. Ouch! I go to Geneseo, NY to have it done. I used to go to Rochester to the Elizabeth Wende Breast Clinic but now they have a satellite office in Geneseo which is closer for us. Still a good hike. I used to wait for the results (took hours) but I don't anymore. Kind of like playing Russian Roulette. So far, so good. Breast cancer does not run in my family.....but colon cancer does. Rats. So you know what I'm doing every five years! Poop! Our daughter, Kim, works at Geneseo's college (SUNY at Geneseo): Assistant Vice President for College Advancement. We were too late to meet her for lunch. Rats.
The day was not complete without going to the Geneseo Walmart. It's a beauty. I love it. Also made a quick visit to Wegman!s grocery. It's the best in the land. Our son works in the corporate office for Wegman's: asset management.
Time to head home in case Lulu and the girls were having a big party. They love to party! When they are altogether, there's no stopping them.
Stopped in Arkport, NY for fresh picked strawberries. I always think we will come here and pick our own but that never happens. They are sooooo good. Reminds us of Parksdale Farm Market in Plant City.
Stopped to eat supper in Alfred, NY...a college town. It's so empty now with all the students gone. Ate at the Colligate restaurant....aka "The Jet". Cory got a wonderful Beef on Weck ....after I saw it, I wished I had ordered it, too. Tons of beef on it. Yummy.
And now the day is over and we are home. It started out with the "less then comfy" procedure but ended up with several good times to top off the day. The rest of the week is just routine stuff: Cory has to take our Ford Flex for inspection. He plays golf on Thursday evening. I am going to the eye doctor on Thursday.....my eyes get blurry off and on and it's hard to focus.....probably from staring at my iPad all day...do you think? Oh, yes..I did forget to mention we are going to a strawberry festival in Scio, NY tomorrow night. Yum! Our daughter, Lory, and family live in Scio, next
door to where the festival is being held....handy. This will be filling & fun.
We hope you are all having good days. Our weather has been so nice. Today, we reached 96 degrees...toasty! Usually, we have been in the high 80's. Nice, very nice. If you get bored, give Lulu a call and she'll have you down to party with her sisters and friends.
