The rained stopped for Day 2 at the Good Sam Rally. Yahooo! Taking our good old time getting up in the morning; we weren't in any rush to venture out. Cory was showering and I was lingering in bed. I could hear knocking and first thought it was just Cory banging around. No....there was knocking. Cory ventured to our door in his underwear. I heard him gasped & holler but couldn't believe what he said. Throwing open our door in his skivvies, he, in shock, welcomed our dear friends, Sam & Sandy. Surprise!! And we were.....they had driven their RV from their home in Michigan to surprise us at the rally....and did they ever! We had to be dreaming. This was all too good to be true. I jumped out of bed and threw on my raincoat to greet them (I don't have a housecoat). Speechless.....simple as that but oh, so happy and excited to see them. They had been here since Tuesday and each day, tried to locate us without giving up their surprise factor. They truly succeeded in their goal to surprise us. We were shocked but so happy. We fell right into where we left off: gathered together

in our RV, laughing and sharing our times together. We kept staring at them: were they really here? Were we dreaming? WOW! What a great day. Lunchtime arrived so we went out to a local diner to eat. Not The Ale House but who cares when you are with good friends. Back to the Rally to check on a couple items. We had planned to participate in the marriage vow renewal that the rally wanted to do in order to make the Guinness Book of World Records for the biggest group doing this. I don't think Sam & Sandy had put this on their dance card but they are usually game for anything. What good friends. So Cory put on his Golf Tee Tie and I donned my daughter, Kim's, wedding veil.....remember we eloped and I had only a little pillbox hat like Jackie Kennedy. The thousands of couples gathered together and responded in unison with an "I Do" after the minister said the vows. What a celebratory day....in so many ways. Lulu was so excited.....what a beautiful bride she made. We collected our certificates and headed to a snack bar on the grounds. Here we waited for the next big event: entertainment under the stars by Wayne Newton. It is all almost too much to absorb. What a day it has been. We sat in row 2,300 so Wayne was pretty small as we strained to see him on stage. His voice was loud but not as melodic as in times past. When I screamed at the top of my lungs, everyone jumped. No....it wasn't in excitement over Wayne Newton....a huge bird, high above in a tree, crapped right down on my leg! SH_T! Yes, that's what it was. Once a fly landed on this area of my leg, it was time to go. What a fantastic way to begin the day and what a shocking way to end it. So many surprises....all in one day!

We were there, too!
Loved reading your blog about the Suracuse Good Sam Rally. We arrived at our very first rally on Thursday afternoon in the rain and were redirected to the Destiny Mall Parking Lot, where we remained until Sunday morning. Our favorite part of the rally was meeting the nicest people from Massachusetts (our next door neighbors) and another great couple from Arkansas. We gathered outside our campers to enjoy a little wine, snacks, and telling stories, while watching the fireworks on Sat night. Despite the rain and the alternate parking plans, we enjoyed the rally, but look forward to attending another in the future where it might be dry and warm. Wishing you both safe travels and wonderful experiences.
