Next morning after a re-vote and a re-count of the miles to get to Cape Bredon (about 750 round trip) we decided to drive home before the rain can ruin the trailer. We have 2600 miles to go. So at 7am we start towards the US. Getting across New Bunswick takes hours (we are avg about 50 mph or 85 k because we can't drive too fast towing a trailer).
Getting in to US as American's was much easier then getting into Canada, not that it was that bad. there was another check point in Maine after about 50 miles. Maine took about 13 hours to cross and still no moose to be seen despite the warnings everywhere. We decided to take some smaller roads to get a little look around as we entered NH.
We where on NH for only about 30 mins before coming to Mass. We stopped in Boston to eat dinner. Picking up a boston pizza at a smalll neighborhood pizza shop, and lg with meatballs. The meatballs where good, so was the crust, but most decided we didn't like the sweet sauce they had. We got the pizza to go and ate it on
the way. We then crossed into RI for all of 15 mins into Conn and down to New York. It was like one big City the never ended in this area. Where one City ended the other started with nothing but city in between.
When passing New York we where going right by NY city but the traffic was so crazy we didn't get a good look, so we turned around and drove by again.....still could see it well. SOOOOO at 2am we enter NY City with trailer attached through the Bronx- 127 & Lexinton and drive around the city for almost two hours, seeing NY like many don't see it. There where people every where here. there was taxis and dilvery trucks driving crazy all around. There was police on EVERY block. We found most of the landmark places: the sears tower, times square, broadway. We taked to a few of the people walking about, Trevor even ended up peeing in the bushes in downtown.
We it was time to leave, we found out for a few nice NYC policemen that we couldn't leave by any other way but the way we came in. The tunnels are off
limits to flameables (propane) and the trailer was STILL too tall for some bridges. So we left on the lower level of the George Washington Bridge in the Bronx, where we had come in.
By now I was pretty darn tired, so we drove until the ended less cities ended, driving through NJ and ended up being in Penn.
So It was now 7 am and I was beat tired and had been on the road for 24hrs. but it was already light out and to turned off at Harrisburg area.
After driving over 1100 miles. We stopped to look over the map and found we where close to Hersey so we drove there and went to the tour at the factory sampled the chocolate and drove to Gettysburg to a campground to get some much needed sleep. They had a park for the kids, but with them going in and out and the light, I could sleep so did some laundry and took a shower and lost my kids (kids had taken them when I was trying to sleep).
