Go on this tour its good
Another thing that seems to be international these days... the duck tour... London has one so does New York, and its brilliant, especially when piloted by the lovely, the curvaceous the sexy Captain Kim (tour guide and kim's hubby's words). Tis a different way to see NYC and even get to paddle in the Hudson for a bit before heading into Hell's Kitchen and past some bar where Bruce Willis worked once......

When in New York you gotta do macys, like going to london and not doing harrods. Kirsty and i hit the stores and disperse to go find the stuff we needed to find. So wandering around this huge store i get caught up in the escalator which chews up my trekking sandals and for a while i thought it had chewed up my foot..a woman in totally over the top new york dramatics checks me over for mortal injury before guiding me to customer services to retell a lurid story of near amputation and personal shock and mental anguish. $100 in vouchers later and i get to go and buy new sandals... result. Kirsty in the meantime gets stuck in a shoe queue to buy some new converses

two people who hate to have their pic taking having to sit and have their pic taken while everyone else watches and laughs.....
for her sis.. sending me off to go try and get broadway tickets for Avenue Q

If you want cheap(ish) tickets to see a broadway show then TKTS is the place for you, unless you have a pathological hatred of queues. Did i say i had a pathological hatred of queues. This one was a monster snaking back n forth and around the block..with me at the end of it like some serpentine haemorrhoid. But hey 2 hours later and i had 2 tickets to see Spamalot (last avenue Q ones went to the couple in front of me, may they drop dead in the street). Still Spamalot... a very funny musical. If you never seen it go see it its great... best line for me was ' why didn't you tell me you were a Jew?' 'Well its not really something you admit to a heavily armed christian is it....'

Last day in New York with Kirsty before she had to head back to the UK and i headed into the joys of hostelling. Forth of July..apparently its something of a special day in America.. and from what i could see it was National BBQ in Central Park day. And like in UK the firing up of a BBQ brings rain. But we had a nice final walk in New York and still weren't mugged or shot. A perfect end to a great week.
