Male bonding
Daddy gets some snuggling time in with Charlie. We now know that the snuggly phase doesn't last forever:( Well, unfortunately, I am pretty sure that you currently think they grow in plastic eggs Lena. Sorry about that. Maybe we'll pick some in Nana's garden this summer and correct that notion. For Easter you found eggs hidden in the back room and they were each filled with a strawberry. Later when you found the container that the eggs live in the rest of the year they had to each be rechecked for strawberries😊
It has been a while since I have written you, but we have been busy as ever. Between trying to get the work on the house that we are doing ourselves finished and all of the other adventures that make life worth it, we've just been busy.
We got to see all the Widzinski boys when they came into town for the first round of March Madness here in Buffalo. A brief trip, but Charlie got to meet his Great Uncle Jim and we all had a relaxing day outside of the house!
Just before we left for our trip to Boston for Daddy's birthday I took you two shopping with Grandma so that Mommy had more than one pair of non-sweatpant pants for
Such a good big sister
We'll have to wait and see if it continues on forever, with any luck you won't go through that regrettable stage where you lock Charlie in the scary basement... the trip. You were both little angels and it was so late that the mall was almost empty for Lena to run around like crazy. Just as we were about to leave you sat down on the planter, and promptly fell in.
We left for our trip to Boston in Grandma's minivan with Daddy driving, Grandpa riding shotgun, Granny and Lena in the middle seats and Mommy and Charlie bringing up the rear. It was a mostly unadventurous drive with only 3 stops of 40min. each. Long gone are the days when Mommy and Daddy skittered off for a weekend with a suitcase each and some snacks.
We invaded Mark and Jane's house in full force and were warmly welcomed with pot pie and Duplo blocks. What could be better? In true form, everyone in the family slept in on Friday until 10am and chose Saturday to have the crazed screaming 6am wake-up. We will never be invited back😊
Friday we DID get to go to the Aquarium and what a blast that was! Lena you were in your glory. Hands down your favorite was the penguins. It is hard for us to read books with penguins
now, usually we make the animal noises, but penguins make so many noises we don't know what to do! Mommy and Daddy really liked the seahorses.
Saturday we met up with Auntie Binky and Uncle Ken at Katie and Ben's gorgeous new place. Lena, you had a blast playing with a full length mirror and eating some tasty brunch. Charlie, you were the hot potato and you loved it! It was so good to see everyone and we had such a great time catching up😊
Then we headed to Auntie Binky and Uncle Ken's place for a short nap and dinner. The two of you and Uncle Ken managed to get naps in and we had some yummy pizza for dinner. Maybe when you are bigger we will do more dining out, but at this point that prospect is still a little terrifying.
Sunday we went to Boston Commons and walked around. We saw the horses that the mounted police ride, the "make way for ducklings" statues and the pond, which was interestingly empty, and Faneuil Hall. There Mommy got her crazy on and changed Charlie's clothes (not diaper!) on a vendor stand. This was in addition
Hanging with the Granny and Gr. Granny Dottie
Apparently something cool was happening off camera to the right, but we forgive you Charlie, your attention span is just thinking about developing:) to changing your clothes on a table at Roy Roger's. Seems it was a theme of the trip, but to be fair, some genius had decided that the changing table in the ladies room should go between two of those jet engine hand dryers. Between the noise from them and the fact that you had been sleeping for hours and were starved it was a rough moment for us all!
Monday we went to a great game! Daddy and Mommy continued to bring good luck to the Sabres on the road and we won 3-2.
We celebrated Grandpa's 60th birthday! Not only did you get to help blow out the candles this year, you even got to eat some cake! Although I think you were more interested in the frosting. You made a card and when we decided to "sign" it with your hand print. You figured if one is good, two must be better! Thus the card was covered in Lena hands😊
On Saturday we went to the Broadway market with Aunt Anne, Granny and Grandpa. Lena you rocked your Polish side in your little red and white dress and red sweater😊 We ate pierogi and placzek
Chillin with your Godfather
Watching as Kansas sleeps with the fishes... and some delicious dried cherries. We saw and smelled the crazy meat section and procured the butter lamb! It sounds like an epic journey along the lines of a Zelda game, and in some ways it was.
We went directly from the market to Grandma and Granddad's house for naptime and to await the arrival of the Syracuse crew. It was a lovely evening with Nana and Uncle John and Chris and Charlie's first time meeting Aunt Patty, Courtney, Caroline and Betsy.
Easter morning we were doing so well. Everyone was dressed, bags were packed and Mommy was just putting Lena in the car when I realized everything was wet. My hip, my sweater, my dress and most of Lena from the waist down....So back in to change you. A little less formal without your tights and trunks, but so it goes! Charlie waited until we got home to spit up all over his clothes. At some point maybe we will reenact Easter morning for photos of us all, but it was a great day anyways. We had brunch and Easter egg hunt back at home before heading to Great Grandma's for dinner. We had the whole rec room
to play in! Lena, you had a great time pushing around chairs with Granny. Charlie, you spent a bunch of time sleeping in Great Aunt Elisa's arms😊 At one point Lena wandered into the library with Great Aunt Susie and Great Uncle David and convinced them to let you drink milk out of a big girl cup. You did so well, right up until the point where you dumped all the milk down the front of you and Uncle Dave. Unfortunately I only brought extra clothes for one of you. We got to see a whole bunch of family and eat some excellent food that Aunt Susie cooked. Next we headed to Great Granny Dottie's house to join GAL and GUT for dinner and all kind of desserts. By the end of the night we were all pretty shot, but what a great day full of family!
Na Zdrowie! Monday was Dyngus day. Charlie's first and the first one where Lena actually got to see the parade. We danced and saw all kinds of things. Meanwhile Daddy and Grandpa worked a marathon day. Next year he will be able to go with us and help us wrangle the two
Calm before the storm
Seconds after I took this picture you flung yourself up onto the planter and in among the foliage. No picture of that because I was laughing and trying to fish you back out. of you😊
After a wonderful weekend we regrouped during the week and got ready for company during the following weekend. It was the Buffalo Chips 15 year reunion. So we had some OLD friends over to visit and sing. Robynn came in first and then Darrell, Mike, Robyn and your brand new buddy Oscar! It was a big crazy house of babies, big babies and small babies. The cats were no doubt entertained by the fact that there was someone awake nearly every hour of the day😊 It was so great to see everyone, especially because we haven't been getting out much lately and there are all these new people to see.
We had a great walk to the playground yesterday and went on the swings and down the slide, it will be even better when Daddy can go too, but for now we'll make do😊
We love you so much!
