Step 8 Once you have your fingerprints and the Statement of no criminal record these 2 documents must be legalized by your local Argentine Consulate. Which is, of course, all the way down in NYC. You decide to look on the webpage for info about legalizing these documents. You go to the consulate site, switch the language to English, click on legalization of documents and it ikeeps switching back to Spanish the text IS ONLY IN SPANISH. There is nothing clickable in English on this website about documents. ARG. VERY VERY FRUSTRATING. You speak Spanish pretty well, well enough to order lunch and/or take the bus but these are legal documents here. I don't understand a good percentage of it. You guess you'll compose an email to the address provided asking them if they do legalize ... read more

Step 5 Compose a Cover Letter explaining to the Federal FBI in West Virgina why you need this Certificate of No Criminal Record. ie, you have a TEFL certificate, experience teaching abroad and you intend to relocate and work as an English Teacher in Buenos Aires. But you can't do that without a Resedencia Precaria (worker category) (one of the STEPS toward obtaining an actual Visa--not to be confused with the ACTUAL VISA) which you cannot obtain without this Certificate of No Criminal Record from the US government. Step 6 will be to take the Cover Letter, the money order and the fingerprints (once I get them--if I ever get them) and send them to the FBI in West Virginia. Step 7 Wait. Turn around time for the Statement of No Criminal Record: 30 days. . ... read more

Not too much has happened since yesterday, just some minor things. I was cruising through a tiny town on the way to Albany and I passed another sportbike going the other way. It was a gixxer, but maybe I am the only one that matters to. Anyway, we exchange our friendly wave as usual and I continue on my way. I am out cruising in the country a few miles later, doing about 60mph as usual, and enjoying the scenery. All of a sudden I hear a vehicle very close to my left side, and I am cruising on the right side of the lane. I look over and just about had a heart attach; that same gixxer is now riding right next to me! These are the guys we refer to as "squids"; they wear ... read more

Spanish girl was going to Vaduz, the capital of Liechenstein. I wished I could elope with her. But instead went with Rajesh to Zurich HB. The TGV from Zurich to Paris left at 7:02 am and dropped us in Paris Est station 4.5 hours later. It was a speed train and we traveled first class. I could feel the speed only when another train zoomed by the window within seconds at the speed of lightening. As we neared Paris, I saw the Eiffel Tower and Montmartre again, but felt no joy. We had to take the train to Gare du Nord station and from there the RER B to the Aeroport Charles de Gaulle. I realized that we were doing everything in reverse to the start of our travel. The very same father-son duet musicians played ... read more

Happy Thanksgiving to All! We are happily ensconsed at Paul's parents' home in Albany, NY where it is warm inside, but very cold outside. One way to keep warm is to RAKE LEAVES! What fun we had raking with Charles; luckily for us he had extra rakes...probably a leftover from Paul's days at home. All leaves are collected and put into paper bags and left curbside. The city picks them up on garbage days. Joan & Charles took us on the Albany Grand Tour which included a trip to the fabulous state museum with its 9-11 exhibit (which Lexie & I had seen 2 yrs. ago) but just as meaningful to see again. Dave & Charles went up into the Corning Building 42 stories up, but I was grounded as I had no ID with me. ... read more

Now this was fun! My friend Rowan and I hitchhiked down to Albany (capital of New York). We arrived on a busy stretch of highway just outside of Montreal at about 4pm, ready for a long haul of unaccomodating drivers (beep! - several). I decided to take the plunge and take first thumb, selling my body for the whims of the drivers, but for naught. I was out there only 15 minutes before Rowan stepped into the frey. He was there a good 30 seconds before he managed to pull in a car, and here I had just got comfortable. The road down to Albany from Montreal is a wonderful drive at the end of september when we did it. The fall colours are defiently something to see for people who have come from a continent ... read more

so we went trapsing through Voorheesville, NY today at Thacher Park. we hiked the indian ladder trail, and took a few detours to get ourselves into a few precarious positions! we found a few trails that took us up to about halfway up one of the falls, n then we hiked back along the higher path and ended up having to free climb our way down about 30 feet or so, but we made it safe and sound... we stood underneath another one of the falls and found a cave about 40 feet up or so. i climbed up to check it out but jimmy decided he didn't feel like dying today so i climbed back down. at the end of the trail we decided to live on the edge and go off the beaten ... read more

on my way to Seattle I made a stop in New York to visit my family there. It was so much fun. I went shopping wiht my aunt Gloria a lot, in a search to find jeans since all of mine had holes in them. My cousin Michelle also took me out on the town in Albany and we had a blast! They even had German beer at the bars we went to, pretty sweet! Sadly my camera was broken by this point so the only pictures I have are from my last day there of my cousin, her kids, her husband, and me. but I'll add them for everyone to see anyway. Can't wait to go back!... read more
