So. Today you phone the Argentine Consulate of New York--you HAD sent an e-mail--at least you did *that*. So Now you know *who* you are calling. When you get the woman on the phone she tells you --

If you want to travel to Argentina, all you need is a Tourist Visa for three months. If you want to stay longer than three months, then you need to leave the country and renew your tourist visa.

Then, the woman continues; If you want to *work* in Argentina, you have to FIRST go to Argentina ( b/c employers won't hire you until they see you standing in front of them), get a job. Then you have to get your employer to sponsor you. Then you get your "Precaria" temporary visa document THEN you come back to the US, come back to the Consulate and have your fingerprints, birth cert. and that temp. visa legalized.

They don't make it easy for you do they? Not at all. You inquire; Is there anywhere IN Argentina where you could have this done?

No. She says.

Ahh. So glad to be having this INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING experience with the ever-pleasant Argentinian bureaucray (sp?) BEFORE the trip.
