Day 10 - Death Valley to Las Vegas

The original plan was to get up and watch the sunrise from Zabriskie Point, but a 4am start which was what was required to achieve this goal was not desirable for any of us, so a more leisurely start was had by having breakfast in the Hotel and then heading back into Deathh Valley.
First stop was Zabriskie Point where the view was breathtaking. Colours were cool and whilst a view at sunrise would have been amazing, we were still able to appreciate the beauty. We then stopped in at the Furness Creek information centre before heading out to Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America at 288 feet below sea level. Stinking hot, and no wind, but very cool! Thankfully there is no humidity otherwise the 44 dc would have been unbearable. We arrived in Vegas at about 2pm, and hit the pool straight after checking in. Definitely cooler here - only about 35 to 38 dc. After a quick look around the Hotel we headed for the Strip, going to Bellagio Hotel to watch their fountain. We got there just as they were starting and all I can say is wow! They are so much better than any of us ever imagined! We then wandered down the Strip towards Treasure Island Hotel where we were to meet Barb and Paul again at 7.30pm, catching the Volcano erruption at The Mirage Hotel on the way past. Barb and Paul had had a fab time in SF, and it was great to see them again. We spent a couple of hours together wandering the Strip, catching too more displays from the Bellagio Fountain, and snapping a pic to prove that we were all their together. Another late night for the kids unfortunately, but they loved the lights as did we.
