DAY 7 - Thursday 27 November 2008
I wake up around 10am and decided I haven’t headed beyond Treasure Island at this point so I take a walk in the rain up the strip - or is that down… Stuck my head in at most of the Casinos for a sticky beak and stuck to my gambling limit of $2 at each casino. This proved to be a winning formula - leaving on average with about $5 per casino - as soon as I had a win bigger than my $2 - I cashed it out! I couldn’t play poker - mostly cos I don’t know how and didn’t really have the desire to learn.
This activity took up most of the day before I headed back down the strip via the Deuce bus also to see Mandalay Bay, The Pryamid thing and Excaliber (all of which were connected by a free monrail. I also decided that I needed to book a tour to the Grand Canyon as it would probably be a little time before I was back in this part of the world. The bus trip was 14 hours but a little more affordable than the Helicopter tour. I opted for the south rim, which according to the lady at the ticket sales place was better than the west rim as the Canyon was 6 mils wide at the south rim and only about a mile across at the west rim. The west rim has that see through walkway thing and is two hours less than the other trip but I thought I’d go for the bigger view vantage point. Got back to the hotel for a 1 hours nap before the next show
In the evening went to see the “O” at the Bellagio which was absolutely breathtaking. Then decided to scurry off to another late night venue which required a trip on the monorail to the end at the Sahara and fortunately, only a short walk. They were having latin night - and as it was Thanksgiving, it was pretty quiet, although there was a straight couple out for a few drinks that decided they needed to have a very long conversation. Actually, it was her that wanted to do all the talking, he just wanted to play the machines on the bar top and check out the male strippers occasionally- very straight indeed.
Got back to the hotel about 3am - which gave me about enough time to have 3 hours sleep before I needed to be ready for my Canyon trip.
