Patty's escape on foot to capture some of the sights of Las Vegas. Happy Independence Day! We're on the road again…continuing south on I-15 toward Las Vegas. We will overnight on Lake Mead (appropriately named), the body of water created by Hoover Dam and which supplies Las Vegas and much of the southwest with electricity.
At 10:15 pm we pulled into Lake Mead RV Resort after a visit through the heart of Las Vegas. Our route took us around the downtown area but
one member of our party insisted she needed to see the famed Las Vegas strip. Parting ways with the maps, it was not difficult to identify our target. It was approaching sundown and the light level was just right to witness fully the crowds lining the streets and the lights lining the buildings.
Patty demanded at one point she needed to get out and take pictures so she hopped out and took off on a picture expedition in the 108 degree heat with her sweatshirt and camera. We made our way around the block to reclaim her and the guys proudly proclaimed they “picked up a woman on the strip”.
The drive to the resort was dark and hot but uneventful aside from fireworks lighting up the skies
all over the city of lights. -Karen
