So, I am sitting here in the lobby of a Fairfield Inn near Detroit. We have had a couple of frustrating weeks with car repairs and whatnot, watching money flow through our fingers like water. Could have been much worse, and the Lord provided for us, so we are good and mobile again. We also continued on our motorhome hunt, and tried to focus rather close to home. From all around Cincinnati, back up to Hebron Ohio, and over to Richmond, Indiana we looked. We were very interested in….I forget what it was, maybe a Georgie Boy Pursuit, in Hebron, but just couldn’t come to an agreement on price. Flint is a tough place. Like its namesake rock, Flint is a hard, gray place. The people who live here are tough, too, and take a certain amount of pride, along with a big dollop of good humor, in calling themselves Flintstones. Best known as the home of the 1933-34 United Auto Workers sit-down strike, Flint is also very much a company town. General Motors in its various incarnations has been building motor vehicles in Flint since 1904. At its height, General Motors employed about 77,000 in its plants in Flint alone. Round one - Wake up Little Leah, Wake up! Wake up at 8am, leave at 9am, arrive Flint airport 10am, leave Flint 12:10pm, arrive Atlanta 2:30pm, leave Atlanta 5:00pm, and finally arrive Charleston 5:45pm. Phew. Long day waiting, sitting, drooling, and anticipating. Mom, Dad, Aunt, and me....and round two begins. Pick up bags at 6pm, drive off in new rental at 6:30pm, arrive at Lodge Alley Inn at 6:45pm, check-in after finally finding the valet at 7pm, quickly survey our luxuriously antiquated accomodations before dashing off to see our very informative concierge named Caitlynn at 7:15pm. Generoulsy outfitted with maps, coupons, recommendations, and, most importantly, an appointment with a Bluegreen agent at 1:30pm the following day we delve into the most important question: what are we to eat?
