Had a fabulous time at The Henry Ford plant and Rouge plant. Once in a lifetime experience and of course it snowed most of the day and was soooo cold and the wind tried to blow us off the road! ??... read more

Last night was early to bed, and this morning late to rise. Those Doubletree beds sure are comfortable! After a quick breakfast at Bob Evans across the street, it was off to our first destination just a couple of miles down the street - Windmill Island Gardens. The town we stayed in last night is called Holland, so it is only natural that it have a Dutch heritage, and some local Dutch attractions. Sure enough, Tulip Festival is really big around here, but that's in mid-May so we already missed it. The Windmill Island Gardens has an actual 250 year old Dutch windmill, disassembled in the Netherlands and shipped back here and reassembled back in the 1960's. A few weeks ago I visited my hometown. I got off the plane in Detroit and waited for my dad to come pick me up. While I was standing there I noticed how green everything was. Which, to me, now seemed dirty. I've gotten so used to seeing mountains all around me and palm trees lining the streets that home just looked like a lush industrial green. It might help to understand that Vegas isn't industrial -- besides large casinos. It is more like living in the country then it is like living in a large city.
