We didn´t have any accommodation booked for the following night, so we played (drove ?) it by ear and ended up in Oatman. Another ´ghost´town, although this one was still inhabited, by a number of locals making a living out of the fact that Clarke Gable stayed there on his honeymoon night, the noon ´gun fight´and the wild donkeys (burro´s) who come and go as they please. Went to Lake Hasavu City, notably only for its fake lake and London Bridge. Gill once again used her persuasion skills and got us into our Las Vegas (Nevada) hotel a night early.... What is there to say about Vegas - any of you who have been there, will understand how bizarre it really is. Everything is fake, from the Eiffel Tower to the Venetian Canals, to the over ... read more

After dropping Gillian off in Denver we pushed on with the last leg of our tour that would include our faithful and strudy Chuck. There are some interesting places en route from Colorado to the Grand Canyon. A brief summary of our impressions of those that we saw.... Pueblo - not as bad as everyone said it would be, however, we arrived in the dark and left early the next morning. We think of it as the Colorado version of Beatty (ie not much apart from a Motel 6 room). Trinidad - yes, Trinidad. Where we had breakfast after leaving Pueblo - right on the Colorado/New Mexico border. An old mining town with its heart and soul kicked out of it. Lovely historic buildings in desperate need of a face lift. Las Vegas, New Mexico - ... read more

Caught the subway out to the New England Aquariam today and once there decided to head over to the bus station to get a ticket back to NYC, so yeah that was all gravy!! I was like yeah...I know my way back to the aquarium...So I put my trusty map back into my backpack and headed of into the sunset:-) Well not quite!!! I was heading over a bridge that crosses the Charles River and I was like hhmmm I don't remember this!!!..and believe me crossing the bridge is FREAKIN COLD!!!! Hey ya'll!!! Well not much to report today!! I'm just bored cause the hostel I'm at is pretty empty so there's no one really to talk to here...and the one's that are here don't speak English, so yeah... Anyways I was going to walk the Freedom Trail today, but I decided it was to freakin cold, so did a bus tour of Boston instead..Oh sorry the Freedom Trail is a pathway that's marked around Boston showing you all the historical sites...Anyways bus tour was much warmer and probably alot more informative!..and it started snowing!! Walked through Boston Common today, which is Bostons version of Central Park...quite pretty...Well I got the fright of my life didn't I!!! Ok what I thought was a huge bug, just came running at me out of nowhere!! Then I realised it ... read more

Kiaora!!!! Well let me update you since my last entry...After I finished my travelblog yesterday, I went down to visit the Flatiron Building not far from Empire State. Its basically the first skycraper built in NYC and its dam skinny..When it was first built people were scared it was going to fall over..So yeah that was interesting...After that I went up to Madison Square Garden. Which to be honest I wasn't all the impressed with, I was more impressed with the United States Postal Office next door and when I eventually get round to posting photos you'll see why:-)...Anyways headed back to the hostel after that and went out for dinner with one of my roomies 'Maria' from London..We got handed these discount passes for this comedy show, so we went down and checked that out!!! ... read more

26th October 2004 Tuesday We were both wide awake this morning at 05:00 and it was deadly quiet in the hotel. Had a shower and went downstairs to find out where to go etc in Boston. We turned up at the local bookshop/cafe for breakfast, but it didn't open until 21:00. Back to the hotel for a while, and then back at 09:00 for breakfast. Was quite expensive, but quite nice. A bit too fancy for me... melted cheese, salsa and fried eggs...hmmm. Walked across Newbery Street and across the public gardens to the "Cheers" bar to take a photo of Gina in front of the gaff. Back through the gardens to the Freedom Trail, which starts at the information centre. Walked up to the State House around Beacon Hill and visited all the sites associated with ... read more

Hello there folks, well it did not take long before I went on my travels once again. As a birthday treat I have treated myself to a weekend away in Boston, MA in the USofA. My stop over in Dublin was nice - I just love the Irish accent, unfortunately I didn't pick up a Craig Doyle look-a-likey to bring home with me. So far I have been window shopping, visited the Cheers pub, done some more window shopping, sat and looked studious with a big book in the Harvard Campus - got mistaken for a local, twice, so I must have looked intelligent enough - and done yet more shopping. I have felt like I have been walking around a movie set, the place is really clean and picturesque. The people here fit exactly ... read more

I can't believe this summer has gone by so quickly! I could not have asked for a better time during my stay in Boston. This city has so much to offer, and I am leaving tomorrow with many things left undone. As usual, I left some of it right until the last possible minute, but the truth is that every day has been busy since I left school at the end of May. This last weekend was my favorite here in Boston though, since Daren and I took the opportunity to go to Cape Cod. If you have not been, then you should really go. The coastline is breathtaking, the lobster delicious, and the houses colonial and quaint. Our exploration of Cape Cod even included taking in a Chatham A's baseball game of the Cape Cod ... read more

Wow ... I can't believe it. In only 5 days, I will be leaving on my trip. It's surreal to think that it's already here. The months flew by ... and I still have tons to do before I leave. Purchase supplies, Eurail passes and insurance ... pack up my room ... say goodbye to my friends and loved ones. As excited as I am about leaving on this wonderful adventure, I'm a little sad to say goodbye. The trip is only a little over two months, but it's quite a large chunk of time when you think about it. What does this trip have in store for me?  I'm hoping for a whole new perspective on life, a clarity that is difficult to achieve while going through the routines of your everyday life. I hope ... read more
