I woke up feeling very hungover a feeling that was shared with everyone, it had been a heavy drinking session the night before. Today we were heading down to Fenway Park to see where the Boston Red Soxs play baseball and to continue the theme of the trip so far we decided that we would walk there. Jake really wanted to get a Five guys and there happened to be one along the way, it was really good and went a long way to ridding me of my hangover! At Fenway Park we found a really cool bar called Bleachers which had a view out onto the pitch which would have been even better had it been a game day. They did have the American football on and the atmosphere was brilliant with every getting involved with the game that was playing, it is a shame that the same cannot be said in England when you go down the pub to watch a game.
I really wanted to see MIT and Harvard university and this was another very lengthy walk heading out of the main part of Boston and into Cambridge. As we were heading over the bridge
to Cambridge we saw that it was marked by Smoots along the way which we would later find out was something that was created by students at MIT as a joke. MIT was very impressive from the outside with some great architecture and quite intimidating from the inside, no doubt it would be very difficult tackling a degree there. Another 30 minutes walk down the road, I had to sit down very briefly, was Harvard University which put MIT to shame. The buildings were spectacular and the surroundings were really nice, this was somewhere that I could definitely feel at home at. I would have loved to have gained my degree there, not that I would have got in though! While sitting in the Harvard grounds there was a woman that spent a could half an hour trying to catch her dog and get it back on the lead which some amusing entertainment. After touring Harvard we stopped off at a bar to get a drink and to take a breather as we had clocked up a lot of walking miles and then got the subway back to the centre of Boston as no-one could face walking back.
As we were driving the next day and had already had a big night out the previous evening we all thought it was best to have a quieter night and as such we went to a pub called Beantown which Jake had clocked the day before and wanted to go in. The food in there was quite good and they had a lot of pool tables in the back where we spent the rest of the evening, although I was only planning on having a few a did end up drinking quite a bit. Alex and Jake went back early as Alex had volunteered to take the first drive out of Boston the next day and Jake wasn't feeling too great. While playing pool we were challenged to a game of pool by a very annoying Irish person; we nominated Harv to play him. He came up with his own rules but never actually followed them, Harv lost the game but I considered the guy to be a bit of a cheat so it didn't count! Back at the hostel Jack said the most hilarious thing that he has ever said stating that if Jakes friend from Canada was
only bringing out five guys then they better be burgers!
