We woke up about 8 am, still foggy but some clearing. We sat on the balcony with coffee and saw some dolphins. It is cooler but still humid. I guess I’d better get used to the humidity. I think I truly am a desert girl now.
We met everyone up on the back deck for breakfast. Denny was injured on her arm when an automatic door closed on it. It is badly bruised (she is on Coumadin) but says she is fine.
We don’t get to Boston until 3 pm. We were supposed to get there at 2 pm but the fog has slowed us down.
Took showers and now just chilling. Ken is looking for the Yankees game at a sports bar. I try to connect to Wi-Fi and it is so slow it keeps timing out.
We had a little lunch then got ready to leave the ship as we pull in to Boston.
It looks like a beautiful city. We take the ‘Hop on, Hop off Trolley’ so we can see as much as we can. It’s kind of a weird timing for a port. We get in at 3pm and have to be back on the ship
by 9pm. Since it is Sunday, many of the shops and restaurants close early. We get off at the ‘Cheers Bar’, the original one. It wasn’t a very friendly place. All of the bar seats were taken and you weren’t allowed to sit at a table if you weren’t going to order food. Well, we weren’t hungry and we never watched one episode of Cheers so we began walking. The area is called Beacon Hill and it is quite quaint. Row houses, tree lined streets and brick sidewalks, flower boxes, gas lamps. I thought there would be more shops and cafes but it truly is residential. It is very hot and humid! We head back to the trolley stop. Our next stop is Fenway Park. We can only walk around the outside, but you are so close. There is the street and the seats hang over the sidewalk. We walked around it and then have a beer in one of the many restaurants/bars surrounding it. We catch the trolley back to the bus, driving past Tom Brady’s townhouse.
The line getting back on the ship is very long because Carnival only has one security line open. It is absurd and
I have never experienced this before. Usually they have multiple lines open and you get right on. Unfortunately we have noticed many things that are not as nice on this cruise compared to the other 8-9 we have taken with Carnival. I guess they are cutting back too!! Change we can believe in.
It took so long to get back on the ship; we went right to the dining room and met Bobbie, Annie, Denny, Minnie and Jack.
After dinner it was time for reading and writing this blog that I cannot publish since the internet is so slow!!
