Dear Interested Parties, I haven't described some of the hikes we have taken. We actually hiked a distance on the Apalachian Trail in New Hampshire which went through the White Mts. nice trail and dogs ok on a leash. Today we did a couple of hikes in Acadia Nat'l Park, one with a ranger. We hiked to Otter Cove, but alas, no sea otters. They do have river otters here in the streams. We went on a Raptor Watch on top of Cadilac Mt. and saw some hawks & golden eagles in the distance. The view from the top is sensational; it was a very clear day. We could even see a cruise ship coming into Bar Harbor. Tomorrow there will be 2 cruise ships unloading 5000 people into this small community. I guess it's good for the local economy this time of year as there are few people around. Many places have closed for the season. So, I guess we'll stay in the Park and take a hike. Went into the post office and thought I was in Carmel. They have the same quaint brass boxes and lots of locals were greeting each other. It is a very dog friendly town (just ask Timmy) with water bowls out and stores happy to have them (and their owner) come in. Dave says hooray for the Cleveland Indians beating those "Damn Yankees." We heard 2 broadcasts of the game. On our satelite radio we got the Yankee announcers while on the computer we got the Indian announcers. Granddaughter Lexie reported that the Giants' tribute to Barry was very nice and she's an Oakland fan. Dave is almost finished with another Lincoln biography (thanks Kirks) and I have just a little bit more of Harry Potter (thanks Jean). No, I have not read it in 2 days, Dylan. Remember you had summer vacation to race through it. I can't take my eyes off all the beautiful scenery that surrounds us so I only read at night, after our quidish, I mean cribbage game.
