Set off for Walmart first for a GPS.
Its an awesome store, so much of everything and large 'party' bags of
everything. Tons of precut fruit and its like the old Super K (Kmart
and Coles combined but on steroids) Debated Twinkies but bought the
ingredients for smore's !!!
Anyway onto Port William State Park and
the Portland Head Light. Great old buildings, set up to protect the
mining in the area. The Lighthouse was lovely. Driving through Cape
Elizabeth was beautiful. The houses are amazing. All weatherboard,
beautiful big balconies and verandahs and lots of grass, very few
fences ans strangely, lots of wooded forests surrounding many of the
houses. Just gorgeous.
Headed into Portland and walked the Old
Port District, and had lunch at one of the restaurants along the pier
and Graham got to try the Lobster Rolls, which is what Maine is known
for. Other than that, its all fried food. We ate, fried calamari,
chips and fried chicken....salad....what's that?
Late lunch meant not hungry for tea, so
freezer meals from Walmart, plus with our new corkscrew we were able
to enjoy a nice glass of wine out the back overlooking the beach.
Tide was way out and is was cool but muggy, but very misty out over
the water and looking toward the
pier.
And s'mores are great!
