Tourist trap
6 gun city we didn't go in Well, here we are in Maine. When we crossed the boarder they took away my tomato's, and grapefruit. Apparently you can't enter the states with some fruits and vegetables from another country, even Canada. The couple we met at our last Canada campground are joining us for a Canadian Thanksgiving tomorrow, yep Turkey (on the BBQ) and all the dressings. We stayed here for 3 days and had a look around the country. By the way Bar Harbor is pronounced "Ba Haba". We had some interesting conversations because of the accent. Then we travelled west across Maine to Bangor and into New Hampshire. Our first campground being in the White Mountains (in the Appalacians). Scenery was great and we seem to be following the fall colours as we go along. We were going to go into Vermont but changed our minds and decided to travel down the length of New Hampshire as the nights were getting a little chilly even had frost 1 night. We spent that night at the bottom of New Hampshire, about 2 miles from the Massachusetts border. The next day we had a great time exploring Salem. It was a fun time, even though 5 young bored

would have cost us 75.00 to go in here. It would have been a good place to take kids because they also had water slides and lots of fun for children girls caused witch-hysteria and ultimately were responsible for 29 deaths mostly women but some men. All because they were bored. For your Information 3 of these girls were the Pastors daughters. They were Puritans and life was strict- still. The so called witches were hung or died in the dungeons but not burned. This witch-hysteria lasted 18 months. However, the town is a fun place and it was a beautiful day. Salem was also very well known for its pirates since it was a major port. Captin Kidd was hung here twice, the first time the rope broke and they had to get a better rope. Also the first female pirate came from here, she used to pretend she was alone on the ship waving for help and when another ship came along side her crew would come out of hiding and take over the rescuing ship. The next day we toured to the centre of Mass. and stayed there for a couple of days before going to Cape Cod. Here we stayed and met up with friends and family for a few days. We toured Plymouth Rock and the Pilgrim village. Also the Mayflower II the replica that the

up in the hills of the white mountains pilgrams came over on in 1620. The next day we took the ferry over to Martha's Vineyard. This island has 6 different villages and some of the most expensive real estate in America. Michael J Fox has a home there as well as many other stars in sports and movies. Oh and Opra dropped a kings ransom to buy James Cagneys farm. One village is dedicated to the Captins and seamen and a bylaw states no one may color the outside of their home in anything but white with either black or dark green shutters. This is also where they filmed Jaws. One village is owned by the Methodist church and originally were tents but are now wood and called the gingerbread houses they have no wiring or plumbing and are not habitable in the winter. In the summer months the population on this island goes from 16,000 to over 300,000. So it was interesting to some degree and now we can say we have been there. Oh one more little fact Martha's Vineyard has the highest incident of Lymes disease because they are overrun with ticks. It is now Oct 22 and we are again on the move.
