New Orleans
The famous Natchez boat which runs down the Mississippi River This morning after we got ready and ate breakfast we quickly cleaned the van and trailer as it was getting pretty filthy then set off to New Orleans. We arrived mid afternoon and went straight to the hotel to drop off our stuff. Tonight we were staying altogether in a large house like room which was made up of two separate quarters. We ran around choosing our beds and bringing our gear in before it was time to catch a boat down the Mississippi river. We walked down to the pier, bought tickets and before long we were sailing down the river getting amazing views of the city of New Orleans. Some areas of New Orleans were still looking a little rough and run down due to hurricane Katrina, even though that was two years ago. After the boat trip we got a group photo then headed back to the hotel to get ready for a big night.
We all got ready and met outside the front of our hotel. Jon had booked a table in a restaurant down town but we had to get a move on because the other trek group were also having dinner there but they

Preservation Hall plays some amazing Jazz hadn’t booked a table. We got there first and sat down to eat. Some of us ordered drinks called, ‘hurricane’s’ which were recommended to us by Jon because they were very strong. We were drinking and eating local food for a while before the other trek group came and had to wait for us to finish, the restaurant didn’t have enough tables. But it didn’t really matter we were pretty much finished, we paid up and headed out. Jon then took us to a famous New Orleans jazz club called ‘Preservation
Hall’, we waited around for a while then the guys came out and played some awesome jazz to a packed house. This place was so serious about their jazz that they didn’t sell alcohol, if you were in preservation hall, it was for the jazz. We listened to a couple of sets but it was getting incredibly hot so Dave, Hannah and I left and went to the pub across the road for a drink. Dave got chatting to some people in the bar and Hannah and I chatted away until the others eventually came over a while later.
We left to go to another bar Jon recommended

Views of New Orleans from Natchez boat cruise and when we got there the other trek group was also there. By this time we were all quite drunk and some of us didn’t really want to go to this bar, Tina and Hannah stayed at this bar while the rest of us left to go to a bar recommended by the people who Dave was talking to, who were hanging around with us for the night. They took us to this gothic pub where we all got smashed. Tina and Hannah eventually met up with us again before we left and hung out around Bourbon Street drinking hand grenades. Most of the group took a taxi home but Hannah, Jon and I stayed out with a few people from the other trek group having more drinks. Eventually we walked back to the hotel and on the way Hannah managed to book a room in a decent hotel, we stayed there for the night. The whole group was drinking like crazy and most of us stayed out till the early hours of the morning.
