i have been here for nearly two months, see mardi gras entry also. i came to look around for employment and housing as i think i want to relocate to my hometown (nawlins).

i am also here to help my dad finish his new home being built in pass christian, mississippi(which was far more devastated by a tidal serge of 25-30 feet). the scenery here is still something right out of a horror film.

it has taken around 18 months, since katrina, and his 90% completion (the other 10% is done by the home owners and son) house is still not done. however, it is getting very close and we have managed to work when the builders are not around, which is VERY often. i think we have just about finished painting the interior save for some minor touch up painting.

this reminds me about what my dad said the other day. he was painting at a window when he said, 'it sure looks desolate and unwelcoming out there'. IT DOES!! as does new orleans east!! i questioned their wanting to rebuild but that is what we do around the globe isn't it. mother nature sometimes scolds us but we rebound. this is taking a philosophical slant so i will close and write in another month or so when i have only mundanities to discuss. perhaps the subject will be how much fun we had installing the floors of his new house(at least i hope we will be done by then!).

ps: i should mention that it is not all work and no play for clay. last night i went out for some good ol' fried foods including softshell crab, oysters, catfish, shrimp and crawfish balls and of course a beer (plus 2 more).
