The forty miles of I-65 we drove from the Ohio River, through Louisville, KY, south was bone-jarring rough. We were happy to turn off onto the Western KY Parkway. At Eddyville, KY, we drove south on Hwy 641, seeing both the Barkley Dam on the Cumberland River and the Kentucky Dam on the Tennessee River. We had to backtrack near Benton, KY, due to an accident.
We arrived home around 3:30, where it was 94 outside and 86 inside. It's been a great trip, we've been to beautiful places, to 6 states we'd never seen and met lots of nice people along the way. I'd have to say our favorite state was Montana and Glacier NP our very favorite spot. We are glad to be home, but are starting to think about the next trip.
Here are our stats:
7,080 miles
20.827 average miles per gallon of gas
$4.043 average cost per gallon of gas
28 nights in campgrounds
$24.68 average campground cost per night

Thanks guys
Thanks for taking us along with you on your wonderful trip once again. I have another thought Charlie - how about you writing for a travel magazine? You write exceptionally well and make the reader want to go visit! Love you and glad you are home safely
