Sunday: The weather was great- 75*, sunny slight humidity and slight breeze. Copper and I drove out to Cheney lake which came highly recommended to me from a local. It was gorgeous but there wasn't much of a trail- more just walking on the road through campsites which were mostly empty on a Sunday afternoon. Also a short boardwalk over the marshy part of the lake. Unfortunately a lot of the lake edges are marsh too so you can only walk on the "beach" for a short time. Lots of sail boats out on the lake and some people fishing too. Definitely worth the 30 minute drive out of town.

Monday: I was told there was great authentic Mexican food in Wichita because there's a big Mexican community here. I had seen some signs in Spanish and so that seemed believable. So I was brought to what I was told the best authentic Mexican food in Wichita. I ordered the carne asada and it came with fries on the side. American Fries!!! After this experience I spoke with some other people and we came to a consensus that there are regional interpretations of international cuisine. Apparently the midwestern interpretation of mexican cuisin is known to be weird but I've also been informed that the mid-western interpretation of Chinese food is amazing so I'll need to seek that out. Thinking about this I remember when I lived in England the Indian food and Chinese food being soo different than the American interpretations of Chinese and Indian food. Really goes to show the only way to truly get authentic food is to visit the country or find someone from that country who will cook for you 😊

Tuesday: Went to a meetup game night- same group as 2 weeks prior. This time they were checking out a new location at Pourhouse brewery. We basically took over their 2nd floor of tables which was great. Played Wingspan which was a great strategy game.

Wednesday: Rain, rain and more rain. Could it rain some more? What a dismal day- time to stay inside and watch some TV with hot chocolate 😊

Thursday: Wichita is generally a windy city and known for it. But even for being a windy city there was a high wind advisory in place for most of the day. Some pretty big branches fell down here at my airbnb and make quite a noise. Copper and I went for a walk and when big gusts came we had to close eyes and mouth to make sure leaves didn't blow in our faces. He wasn't too great at closing his mouth and decided if a leaf blew in his mouth that it was a nice snack lol.

Friday: Mom arrived! Lots of work- 10.5 hour work day since it was the last day of the month, some grocery shopping and a late evening airport pickup 😊

Saturday: In the morning we headed to Wichita's Old Town Farm and Art market- a Saturday morning staple in Wichita for over 30 years. There were about 50 stalls of food and art in a little plaza in Old town. Live music and lots of dogs saying hi to each other. In the afternoon we drove down to Cowley County Lake Falls. I was told the falls usually pour with water after it rains. Since it rained so much Wednesday I assumed there would be a waterfall. But it was very dry. The lake next to the waterfall is full and rivers flowing all around so it's not drought like the west coast or anything. Not sure if maybe they only flow immediately after a rain- like just the next day. Or maybe they are a springtime thing? Who knows but it was a disappointment. In the evening we headed to Dempsey's Burger Pub. I had a Spicy Hawaiian Wagyu burger. Wagyu beef comes from certain breed of cow from Japan. There are some local farms in Kansas that are growing a version called Kobe Beef. It was really tasty! Add in the spiciness and the pineapple and yum!
