We had a long day today in the rain. We are anchored in Dubuque Iowa and it is still pouring rain with thunder and lightning. There was nothing else to do on a rainy day so we just kept going. We travelled 98 miles for a total of 251 miles in three days. We should be at the same attitude as Chicago by tomorrow night. Good because it is a little cool this far north

We went through 3 locks and only had to tie up once, we floated in the chamber for the other two. We waited 45 minutes at the first one but the last two were waiting fir us.

Not even the Eagles were flying today but hordes of swallows raced around the boat. The scenery continues to be spectacular with the trees beginning to show some colour. We crossed a lake with 2 foot waves which is not a problem fir our little craft. I am getting lots of practice at the helm to relieve the Captain.

Not much to say about today, I am tired so I will bid you all goodnight.
